Amedeo Balbi - On another planet

July 20, 1969 was the first moon landing in history, what better anniversary to host astrophysicist Amedeo Balbi on the Aragonese Castle.

The Olive Terrace, a unique location in the world, was the setting for Amedeo Balbi's lecture, " On Another Planet."

The speaker Balbi explained how despite the best intentions to colonize other planets, these are quite infeasible, and for this reason launching the reflection that rather than looking for other planets it would be appropriate to save our own.


BIO:
Amedeo Balbi is associate professor of astronomy and astrophysics at the University of Rome "Tor Vergata." The author of more than one hundred scientific publications, he has contributed to, among other things, the first precision measurements of cosmological parameters and the determination of the geometry of the universe. Alongside his research and teaching activities, for years he has been telling science to the general public on the web, in print, on the radio and on TV. He has written several books, including "Seekers of Wonder" (Rizzoli, 2014), winner of the 2015 National Science Disclosure Award, and "The Last Horizon" (UTET, 2019), winner of the 2021 Asimov Prize. His most recent book is "On Another Planet" (Rizzoli, 2022).
