Open 7 days a week, all year, from 9am until sunset*.
THE LAST TICKET WILL BE ISSUED AN HOUR AND A HALF BEFORE CLOSING.

The cafés and bookshop may not have the same opening times and days as the Castle.

The Aragonese Castle of Ischia is located in the Municipality of Ischia (Ischia Ponte).

From Porto di Ischia
- by line no. 7 bus (15 minutes);

Accessibility

The visitor routes of the Aragonese Castle of Ischia have lots of steps and, in some cases, steep slopes. These characteristics unfortunately do not allow disabled people in wheelchairs to visit independently. However, some points can be reached with the help of our support staff.

Cafés and refreshment facilities

Il Terrazzo Café

Il Terrazzo is located at the highest point of the visitable area, it is surrounded by the splendid view over the Gulf of Naples, Ischia and the nearby islands Capri, Vivara and Procida.

Under a beautiful pergola that gives relief in the hottest days, you can taste local sweets and ice cream, or take a pleasant break for lunch with light snacks. While in winter there is to welcome the internal room, which will warm you with warm lights and artistic photos.

The terrace is also a venue for events such as conferences, weddings, and vernissages.

La Caffetteria del Monastero

In front of the Church of the Immaculate Conception, it has magnificent terraces with a view overlooking Ischia Ponte. From here, you also have a privileged view of the romantic ruins of the Cathedral of Our Lady of the Assumption, that harmonises with the charm of the Bay of Sant'Anna.

A place that invites you to stop: a garden terrace, with tables set among bougainvillea, broom, jasmine and lantana. And on the sunniest days, there's a pergola with a long stone bench built into the wall and low hand-decorated ceramic coffee tables.

The Café also hosts special events: aperitifs and cocktails are offered during cultural and vernissage events, as well as open-air wedding ceremonies and parties.

Coffee, tea, cappuccino, ice cream, juices and smoothes can be found in the Caffetteria del Monastero, along with tasty salads, pizzas, zingare and desserts made in the kitchen of our restaurant "La cucina del Monastero".

LOSTUDIO

In the splendid spaces of what was first the refectory of the Poor Clares and later the studio of the painter Gabriele Mattera - whose presence is still "felt" in the works on the walls, in the spots of colour on the floor which has been left as it was, in the curtains that were used to shield the powerful natural light - the gallery/bookshop “loStudio" presents the work of artists and artisans (jewellery, ceramics, sculptures, fabrics), personally selected by Anna Cristina Mattera, which stand out due to the quality and originality of their creations.
A unique place on the island for those looking for works of art and objects that still retain the flavour of dexterity and creativity.

In the section dedicated to the bookshop, there's a thoughtful selection of books related to the history of the island and Naples, postcards, photographs and small souvenirs of the Castle, cook books and texts dedicated to regional traditions.
