In the splendid spaces of what was first the refectory of the Poor Clares and later the studio of the painter Gabriele Mattera - whose presence is still "felt" in the works on the walls, in the spots of colour on the floor which has been left as it was, in the curtains that were used to shield the powerful natural light - the gallery/bookshop “loStudio" presents the work of artists and artisans (jewellery, ceramics, sculptures, fabrics), personally selected by Anna Cristina Mattera, which stand out due to the quality and originality of their creations.
A unique place on the island for those looking for works of art and objects that still retain the flavour of dexterity and creativity.
In the section dedicated to the bookshop, there's a thoughtful selection of books related to the history of the island and Naples, postcards, photographs and small souvenirs of the Castle, cook books and texts dedicated to regional traditions.

This is also the headquarters of the FONDAZIONE KARIN E GABRIELE MATTERA.
The Foundation has three main objectives: to preserve and promote the work of Gabriele Mattera, to promote contemporary art at the Castle, and to oversee the restoration and study of particularly significant areas of the Aragonese Castle.
It is also a sponsor and partner of cultural events — ranging from cinema to music, architecture to theatre — hosted within the Castle.
