Vinse il duol la Vittoria
Concert on unpublished music by Wilhelm Kempff in the encounter with the poetry of Vittoria Colonna
On Saturday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of the Assumption at the Aragonese Castle, the associations “Amici di Gabriele Mattera” and “La via della Bellezza” present the concert “Vinse il duol la Vittoria,” on unpublished music by Wilhelm Kempff in the encounter with Vittoria Colonna's poetry. The exceptional discovery of a manuscript found in the Archiv der Kunste in Berlin returns to the public an important piece of the composer activity of Kempff, one of the most distinguished pianists of the 20th century. From his writings emerges a dual lyrical portrait of Vittoria Colonna, poetess of the Renaissance, and of the place where the marquise of Pescara spent most of her life, Ischia.
M° Giovanni Auletta, piano
M° Giuseppe Auletta, voice
With the participation of Prof. Andrea Donati
Giovanni Auletta, in his careful research activity, with sensitivity and expertise, but also pursuing a red thread, in a game of mirroring with his own life, reassembles the pieces of this mosaic giving life to a narrative concert.
In the original piano pieces, Kempff restores the beauty of a wild and natural place where the same physical spaces experienced by Vittoria and narrated in her sonnets are perceived. The castle represents for the poetess the locus amoenus, permeated with a tangible, concrete splendor, dawn and dusk of her love.
In a unique event, the manor becomes for one evening a topos of representation and a temporal gateway through which the beauty of art dialogues with history.
